# What hybrid human plus AI chatting means in the offers on the market

A definition of hybrid chatting drawn from vendor pages without naming any vendor, the two products the word covers, and what nobody has measured.

Hybrid is the word the AI chatting market uses when it sells automation to a buyer who is not ready to remove the people. Read across vendor pages, it describes two products. In the first, a published rule decides when a conversation leaves the software and goes to a person: a spending threshold, the age of the relationship, or a qualification score. In the second, nothing decides automatically; an operator switches a single conversation to manual when they choose. Only the first is a mechanism. The second is a manual override that almost every product has.

Chapter 6 of the OFM Business handbook, a publication of the same network as this desk, tabulated the handoff shapes from vendor pages read on 11 September 2026, with prices re-read on 14 September 2026, without naming the vendors. Its finding on price is the one worth carrying: wherever a rule-based handoff is published, it sits on the vendor's top plan and nowhere else, whether the vendor charges per creator, per bot or per account. Manual takeover, by contrast, is not tied to a plan in most of the published texts.

The chapter also records the two questions a published page does or does not answer. Whether the handoff carries the conversation's context to the person, and whether the handoff is durable, meaning the conversation does not bounce back to the software on its own. Vendor pages differ on both, and some are silent.

What the desk did not find is a comparison. In the pages the desk read, no vendor publishes a controlled measurement of hybrid against full automation or against a human team on the same accounts over the same period, and the desk found no trade body or academic study that does. What those pages hold is pricing, feature lists and self-reported figures. The desk therefore prints the definition and the price pattern, and no claim that one mode earns more than another.

The published prices of the tools themselves are on the Tools OFM category page, with the date each was read; the vendors are not named here.
