A correction
The most useful message this desk receives. Send the page, the figure as printed, the figure you believe is right, and the source that says so. Corrections are applied on the page, the updated date moves, and the entry says what changed.
A rule or fee change
If a platform has rewritten a help article, a terms page or a fee, send the link to the page as it now reads. The desk reads the page itself and prints what is on it, with the date. A change that exists only in a screenshot or an email is recorded as unverified until the desk can open the page.
A filing or a document
Dockets, complaints, orders, regulatory correspondence and platform notices are all useful. A link to a public copy is better than an attachment. The desk will say where a document came from, or that its provenance is not public, and it will not print a document it cannot describe honestly.
A job posting
Pay data on this site comes from postings that anyone can open. If you have seen a posting with a rate in it, send the link, not a screenshot. Postings expire, so the desk records the date it read them.
What the desk will not do
- Publish an unsigned accusation about a named company or person.
- Print a figure that exists only in a private message.
- Review a product, accept a demo, publish a tool's price, or take payment for coverage.
- Remove a sourced, accurate entry on request.
Confidentiality
If you ask for your name to be withheld, it is withheld, and the desk will say in the entry that a fact came from a document it has seen rather than from a public page. A fact that cannot be pointed at in public is not printed as a figure.
